Vietnam: trainings and handbooks on prevention of child labour for teachers and government

The WNCB programme in Vietnam supported the Ministry of Education and Training in the development of three guidelines and handbooks on school-based social work, counselling and child labour prevention via the school system. These guidelines and handbooks have been endorsed by the Vice Minister and published for dissemination nationwide. In December 2022, the Ministry also organized a training on the use of these guidelines/handbooks for over 7,000 teachers from 63 provinces in Vietnam.

In December 2022, we also supported the Dong Thap Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs to conduct a refresher training on understanding child labour and case management of child labour for 150 government officers from different agencies (social welfare, education, women union, police, business associations etc.) and child protection officers from all project districts/communes. With the training we have provided the participants with enhanced knowledge and skills in identification, reporting and responding to child labour cases and children at risk.
