Main activities

Improve access to (quality) education, bridge schooling, and youth employment

  • Provide case management to children and their families, in order to refer children to formal and non-formal education opportunities, decent employment for youth, social protection schemes and to refer parents to alternative livelihood pathways.
  • Provide services to teach children and youth basic life skills.
  • Support Ministry of Social Development in establishing local coordination mechanisms in both East Amman and Za’atari Camp.

 

Enforce relevant child-rights based laws and implement policies

  • Support the Government to develop/ amend national level legislation related to child labour.
  • Advocate for adoption of child rights related laws and bylaws including child labour issues, and provide technical support.
  • Advocate for strong coordination among the main ministries to apply the same database system for case management.
  • Provide training to government staff on bylaws and operational practises to ensure that they apply them in the field and respond appropriately to child labour cases.

 

Prevent and address child labour in supply chains

  • Work with Ministry of Labour to promote child rights and develop a supply chain approach to combat child labour.
  • Ensure that the Ministry of Labour shares the data of employers who received warnings regarding incidences of child labour.
  • Raise the awareness of employers in topics related to child rights, referral mechanisms and improving their business without using child labour.
