Save the Children & UNICEF

For over decades, The Stop Child Labour Coalition, Save the Children and UNICEF have made a significant contribution to the eradication of child labour in Mali. SNEC and Enda Mali have a long history of supporting education sector reform, and Enda Mali has been creating Child Labour Free Zones.

The Alliance in Mali includes four partners which are complementary both in terms of approaches and level of engagement, whereas they all bring in relevant skills and experience regarding combating child labour and strengthening child protection. Enda Mali and Save the Children both work in the targeted districts with an area-based approach. In addition to working in the communities, Save the Children simultaneously addresses child protection system strengthening at district, regional and national level, working with various levels and departments of government. UNICEF is complementary as they also work on child protection system strengthening, and have good entries at various government levels, especially at regional and national level. SNEC lobbies at national level towards improved education, together with UNICEF.

The Alliance organisations work in the same way with the private sector: directly addressing child rights and business principles (Enda Mali, UNICEF and Save the Children), and work with the private sector (all four partners) to change attitude, behaviour and company approaches.
